In the garden on earth day.

As it turns out, on my little piece of the planet, Earth Day was filled with dramatic deluges of rain followed by episodes of calm. At days end the storms tapered and the last rays of sun melted down through cloud cover, creating the kind of soft light that only Mother Earth can. The plants were glistening. They were ready for their close ups, and I obliged.

My yard affords me both shade for a woodland garden, as well as some patches of varying lengths of sun. I’ve collected a mixture of natives and rare plants. I aim for diversity with plants and people. Texture and form mean as much as blooms to me. I do talk to my plants, and they usually talk back. I hope these images speak to you.
